Job Description
Summary:
North Central Family Medical Center is a non-profit Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) providing affordable, accessible healthcare and pharmacy services to patients of all ages with locations in Rock Hill and Chester. The Medical Scribe / Certified Medical Assistant (MA) provides support to the healthcare team by performing clinical and documentation responsibilities. This position ensures high-quality, efficient, and patient-centered care by facilitating clear communication between providers and patients, maintaining accurate documentation, and assisting with clinical procedures. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Medical Scribe Responsibilities Document provider-patient encounters in real time within the electronic health record (EHR). Record patient history, physical exam findings, procedures, diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up recommendations. Enter laboratory, imaging, and referral orders as directed by the provider. Review and update patient charts for completeness and accuracy. Ensure documentation adheres to compliance, privacy, and organizational standards. Certified Medical Assistant Responsibilities Prepare patients for examinations, including verifying information and recording vital signs. Assist providers with procedures, treatments, and patient care activities. Administer medications and immunizations under provider supervision and within scope of practice. Perform basic laboratory tests, collect specimens, and ensure proper handling. Maintain exam rooms and ensure infection control standards are followed. Provide patient education and follow-up instructions. Support efficient patient flow through coordination of care activities. Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program. Prior experience as a medical scribe. Certificates and Licenses Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), or equivalent certification required.Knowledge, Skills and Other Abilities:
Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology. Proficiency in EHR systems Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to multitask and prioritize efficiently. Professional, compassionate, and patient-centered demeanor. Strong understanding of HIPAA, confidentiality, and interpreter ethics.
