Job Title:
Medical Scribe Job Description This role provides direct support to physicians by accurately documenting patient encounters in the electronic medical record (EMR) system within a fast-paced ophthalmology clinic. The Medical Scribe helps manage high volumes of patient care, performs post-visit workups, and communicates with patients based on the treatment plan established by the physician. This position offers exposure to advanced retinal care and high-level clinical research, with opportunities for career progression and continued education. Responsibilities Document physician-patient encounters in the EMR system in real time with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Serve as a dedicated scribe for a physician, capturing medical histories, examination findings, diagnoses, and treatment plans. Perform workups after doctor visits, ensuring all required information and follow-up tasks are clearly and accurately recorded. Communicate with patients based on the documented plan provided by the physician, reinforcing instructions and next steps. Apply medical terminology and ophthalmology-specific knowledge to ensure precise and consistent medical documentation. Support a high volume of patient care, contributing to efficient clinic flow while maintaining quality and professionalism. Handle data entry tasks quickly and accurately to keep pace with a schedule of 80-100 patients per day. Collaborate with a team of clinic staff and other scribes to support multiple physicians and maintain smooth clinic operations. Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to all healthcare documentation standards and policies. Demonstrate flexibility in supporting multiple clinic locations as needed while following established schedules and procedures. Essential Skills Bilingual fluency in Chinese. Proficiency with electronic medical record (EMR) systems. Knowledge of medical terminology, particularly in a healthcare or ophthalmology setting. Experience or strong aptitude in medical documentation and data entry. Ability to work effectively in a very fast-paced clinical environment with high patient volume. Strong multitasking skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously. Clear and professional communication skills with patients and clinical staff. Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and patient records. Commitment to patient care and maintaining a professional demeanor under pressure. Ability to float between - Bellaire, Vintage Park, Sugarland, and Pasadena. Additional Skills & Qualifications Bachelor's or Associate's degree in a life science field is a plus. 1+ years of on-site scribing or related medical experience is a plus. Interest in clinical research and potential progression into a research-focused role. Strong typing skills and comfort with computer-based workflows. Ability to thrive in a high-volume environment and adapt quickly to changing clinic needs. Work Environment This is a full-time, on-site role in a very fast-paced ophthalmology clinic environment. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with shifts scheduled between 6:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., depending on clinic needs. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bellaire, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.50 - $19.00/hr.
