Job Description

Overview Join our dedicated healthcare team as a Medication Technician, a vital role committed to ensuring safe and accurate medication management for residents in assisted living, nursing homes, or home care settings. As a Medication Technician, you will work closely with nursing staff and healthcare providers to administer medications, monitor patient responses, and uphold the highest standards of patient care. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with diverse needs, including those requiring Alzheimer's, dementia, or hospice care. Your expertise will contribute to creating a safe, compassionate environment where residents feel valued and cared for every day. Duties Safely administer prescribed medications to residents following all protocols and medical documentation standards. Observe and record residents' responses to medications, vital signs, and overall health status using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner. Assist with medication setup, including tube feeding and catheter care when necessary, ensuring proper procedures are followed. Maintain accurate medical records by documenting medication administration details, changes in condition, and other relevant information in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Collaborate with nursing staff to review medication orders, verify dosages, and ensure timely delivery of medications. Monitor residents for adverse reactions or side effects related to medications and report findings promptly. Support residents with daily activities related to medication management and provide compassionate caregiving tailored to individual needs in assisted living or home care environments. Skills Proven experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or home care environments with a focus on senior care or memory care. Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and the principles of medication administration. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Eldermark or Quickmar for accurate medical documentation. Ability to perform vital signs measurement and basic patient assessments confidently. Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality of medical records and patient information. Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, Alzheimer's disease, dementia, or those requiring hospice care is highly desirable. Excellent communication skills combined with compassionate caregiving approach to support residents' physical and emotional well-being.
