Our Medication Technicians (Med Techs) are essential to this mission: ensuring medications are administered safely, residents are supported with compassion, and families have peace of mind knowing their loved ones are in the best of hands. Position Summary The Medication Technician is responsible for safely and accurately administering medications to residents in accordance with physicians' orders and community policies, while providing ongoing support with daily care needs. This role requires precision, accountability, and heart. Med Techs serve as the bridge between healthcare providers, residents, and the care team, ensuring quality outcomes and exceptional resident experiences. Key Responsibilities Medication Administration Safely prepare, administer, and document all medications as ordered by physicians. Maintain accuracy in medication logs, MARs (Medication Administration Records), and community records. Monitor for side effects, effectiveness, and promptly report any changes to the Resident Services Director.
Resident Support:
Provide assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including dressing, grooming, mobility, and toileting as needed. Offer companionship, encouragement, and support to residents living with Alzheimer's disease or other forms of dementia. Anticipate resident needs, going beyond the task to create moments of dignity, respect, and compassion.
Safety & Compliance:
Uphold community, state, and federal regulations regarding medication handling and resident care. Follow infection control standards, safety protocols, and HIPAA confidentiality guidelines. Participate in audits, med pass reviews, and in-service trainings to maintain excellence in care.
Collaboration:
Work closely with caregivers, nurses, physicians, and family members to ensure continuity of care. Communicate clearly, respectfully, and promptly regarding resident needs and changes. Serve as a role model for professionalism and teamwork in the community.
Qualifications Required:
High school diploma or equivalent. Certification as a Medication Technician/Medication Aide (per state requirements). Previous experience in Assisted Living, Memory Care, Skilled Nursing, or related healthcare setting. Strong understanding of safe medication administration practices. Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
Preferred:
Dementia care training and/or experience working with residents with memory loss. First Aid and CPR certification. Demonstrated ability to handle multiple responsibilities while maintaining accuracy and compassion.
