Job Description

PURPOSE STATEMENT
Assist with the administration of medications under the supervision of a licensed nurse. Compensation for roles at Bayside Marin varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific location, role, skill set, and level of experience. As required by local law, Bayside Marin provides a reasonable hourly range of compensation for roles that may be hired in California set forth below.

$25.00 per hour to $28.00 per hour
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Ensure the well-being of patients and provide a positive, supportive, and structured environment, under the direction of charge nurse or supervisor. Administer prescribed medications to patients according to established protocols and physician orders. Prepare and organize medication doses, including oral, topical, and other forms as directed. Ensure medications are stored and handled in accordance with safety guidelines and regulatory requirements. Document patient interactions and report changes in patient conditions or behaviors by communicating with team . Significant changes are reported to nurse immediately . Document timely , accurate , and appropriate information in patient medical record . Identify self to patient and visitors promptly and respond to patient requests quickly. Respond to distressed patients in a non-threatening manner and attempt to understand the source of distress. Apply de-escalation techniques to help manage patient's emotions, behavior, and participation in treatment. Communicate clearly and effectively to patients, family members, guests, and other members of the health care team. Adherence to work schedule and overall attendance. Follow established policies, procedures, and standards for patient care. Stay informed about changes in medication practices and healthcare regulations. Participate in ongoing training and professional development as required . Collaborate with other staff in working with the population of the facility to treat and rehabilitate. Demonstrate a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude towards customers always . When patient needs are not met, acknowledge and work to resolve complaints . Recognize that patient safety is a top priority.

Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS
High School diploma or equivalent required. Completion of a Medication Technician/ Aide training program as required by the state in which the facility is locat ed . Basic understanding of pharmacology and medication administration techniques. Previous experience in a behavioral health setting preferred. Knowledge and experience working with the population of the facility preferred.
LICENSES/DESIGNATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS
Certification as a Medication Technician /Aide, as required by the state in which the facility is located . CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility). First aid may be required based on state or facility.
