Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medication Technician to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing quality care to our patients, ensuring that they receive their medications safely and effectively. This position requires a strong understanding of medical protocols, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare environment. Responsibilities Administer medications to patients as prescribed, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and guidelines. Monitor patients for side effects or adverse reactions to medications and report findings to the supervising nurse or physician. Maintain accurate records of medication administration and patient responses in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Assist with catheter care, tube feeding, and other personal care tasks as needed. Provide support in home community care settings, fostering a safe and supportive environment for patients. Collaborate with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals to develop individualized care plans for patients with dementia or other conditions. Utilize electronic health record systems such as Epic for documentation and communication regarding patient care. Engage in ongoing training and education to stay current with best practices in caregiving and medication management. Skills Strong knowledge of physiology and medical terminology related to medication administration. Experience in caregiving, particularly with dementia care or similar conditions. Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and data protection. Proficiency in catheter care and tube feeding procedures is preferred but not required. Ability to work effectively within a medical office setting, demonstrating strong organizational skills. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with patients, families, and healthcare team members. A compassionate approach towards patient care, emphasizing empathy and understanding in all interactions.
