Medication Technician (Med-Tech)

Job Description:

Elderville Assisted Living & Memory Care is seeking a dedicated and responsible Medication Technician to join our team. In this role, you will ensure the safe administration of medications to residents under the supervision of a licensed nurse. You will work closely with other staff members to deliver high-quality care while maintaining a comfortable and supportive environment for our residents.

Responsibilities:

Administer prescribed medications to residents as per physician's orders and in accordance with facility policies and procedures Administers or assists with medication administration via the following routes: oral, topical, eye, ear and nose, rectal, transdermal, sublingual and buccal per state and certification guidelines. Take vital signs and record temperature, pulse, respirations and blood pressure or observes residents to detect respond to specified types of medication and prepares report or notifies designed personnel of unexpected reactions. Monitor residents for any side effects or adverse reactions to medications and report concerns to nursing staff. Observe and report any changes in residents' conditions to the healthcare team. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all medications administered, including dosages and timing and follow all facility policies regarding medication documentation. Responsible for maintenance of electronic medical records, written documentation, assuring accuracy, completeness and compliance with regulations, certification standards, legal and ethical standards. Collaborate with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care for all residents. Monitor and ensure the proper cleanliness and storage of medications, ensuring compliance with regulations and facility standards. Uphold the highest standards of safety, confidentiality, and professionalism in all interactions. Assist residents with activities of daily living as needed, providing compassionate care and support and perform various housekeeping duties related to resident care. Assist with medication management tasks, including ordering and restocking medications. Receive supply of ordered medications from the pharmacy and record and restock medication inventory. Communicate effectively with residents and their families about medication routines and any changes to treatment plans. Participate in training and continuing education programs to stay up-to-date with medication administration protocols and safety practices. Work closely with nursing staff and other team members to deliver coordinated, high-quality care.

Qualifications:

Required :

Certification as a Medication Technician in the state of Georgia. CPR and First Aid Certified (or willingness to obtain). Current CNA certification in Georgia. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred. High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in a healthcare setting (assisted living, nursing home, or hospital). Knowledge of medication administration and safety protocols. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
