Job Description

The Medication Processing Assistant will foundationally be trained through the Illinois Department of Human Services curriculum to become certified as an authorized direct support professional (ADSP) as it relates to supporting medication management for those with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). The Medication Processing Assistant serves a significant role in checking in daily pharmacy shipments, working directly with the nursing department regarding identifying new/changed medications in the shipment, and communicating the receipt of the actual medications to the various residential leaders. On a daily basis, the medication processing assistant will drive and deliver the medications to the various group homes. Other key support tasks include, but are not limited to, medical records support and time permitting, picking up medications from local pharmacies for individuals served. Must be at least 18 years of age. Must have a valid High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) Possess a valid driver's license and automobile insurance. At least one year of experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred At least one year of experience in healthcare as a MOA, CNA, or CMA, preferred After hire, must complete medication authorization training in accordance with the state regulations and maintain acceptable status on the Health Care Worker's Registry under the Healthcare Worker's Background Check Act.
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:
Ability to multitask. Must communicate effectively capable of proofreading printed and computer work Effective time management skills. Professional interpersonal skills. Ability to use a computer for written communication and day-to-day systems usage Strong ethical conduct. Ability to perform and maintain certification in CPR, First Aid, CPI, Diet and Nutrition, and Medication Authorization. Must possess emotional stability to handle stressful situations on a regular basis. Working knowledge of the principles of Person-Centered Planning and the Council of Quality Leadership (CQL) Physical Requirements Frequent walking and sitting Regular reaching, grasping, and standing Other physical activities related to an office environment Operates general office equipment, including multi-line phone, fax machine, printer, copier, and personal computer Ability to lift 50 lbs.
