Job Description

Certified Medicine Technician Long Term Care Facility (859) 336-3974 Sansbury Care Center, Springfield, KY Non-Profit Organization/Religious Based All Female Facility Caring for our delightful residents will provide you awesome personal gratitude at the end of each work day.
GENERAL SUMMARY
Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse administers medication in a nursing home facility.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND TASKS
1. Administer medication per MAR with accuracy; document medication administered in MAR. 2. Reorder medications; maintain neat and orderly medication cart. 3. Coordinate required nursing documentation with LPN or RN. 4. Provide personal hygiene, including bathing, oral care, skin care, nail care, and hand washing, dressing grooming. 5. Assist with toileting, including bowel and bladder retraining and perineal care. 6. Make beds. 7. Assist with mobility, transferring, ambulation, positioning, and range of motion, using appropriate techniques. 8. Use appropriate and safe body mechanic techniques when lifting and/or transferring residents or supplies. 9. Use aseptic technique for purpose of infection control; including good hand washing techniques and infection control procedures, including observing universal precautions. 10. Assist in orienting residents to household environment and routines upon admission and throughout the stay. 11. Document accurately all care given, including dietary intake and output, temperature, weight, pulse and respiration, using approved abbreviations and descriptive terms. 12. Maintain and protect patient privacy rights. 13. Participate in planning resident care through shift reports and care staffing meeting. 14. Inform nurses of any significant changes in a resident's condition. 15. Serve resident meals and encourage intake of nourishment and fluids. 16. Answer all call signals and requests of residents immediately. 17. Encourage/assist residents in keeping their room, personal belongings and equipment clean and orderly. 18. Maintain nursing unit in a clean and orderly manner. 19. Participate in activity programs planned for residents as needed. 20. Attend and participate in nursing staff meetings and professional education programs. 21. Respond to resident emergency including bleeding, falls, seizures, and performance of Heimlich Maneuver. 22. Transport dietary carts weighing up to 40 pounds. 23. Transport linen carts to laundry weighing up to 50 pounds. 24. Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma, Nursing Assistant training and current registration on Kentucky Nurse Aide Registry. Successfully complete medicine aide class, with certification. Must be CPR Certified or able to certify to meet minimum requirements of the job. A combination of education, experience, and training may be substituted when competency in the position is demonstrated. Must be at least 18 years old. Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
