Job Description

CMT Job Description Certified Medication Technician Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs patient care responsibilities in a manner conducive to their safety and comfort consistent with Unlimited Bounds Clinical Policies and Procedures as well as state/federal guidelines and regulations. Notify the nurse 7 days in advance when new patient needs new medications orders for suboxone.
  • Administers medications as ordered by a physician under the supervision of a Registered nurse, in accordance with any state and federal regulations and consistent with facility policy.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of "five rights" of medication administration. Administers and records all medication given to patients based upon their specific chart.
  • Notifies appropriate licensed staff when a patient complains of pain.
  • Take and record vital signs of patients in PHP and admissions vital signs, height and weight daily and as needed.
  • Records the administration of medications and/or treatments appropriately, utilizing the I-can notes system to enter and reference client information as needed.
  • Answers clients calls, anticipates clients' needs and makes rounds to intake area to check on clients until picked up by housing under the supervision of a licensed nurse or charge nurse on the shift.
  • Observes for and reports any reactions and/or side effects of medications to a licensed nurse on the appropriate shift.
  • Support and maintains a culture of safety and quality.
  • Administers PRN medications in accordance with state and federal regulations and consistent with facility policy and RN supervision.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Verifies identity of patient receiving medication and records name of drug, dosage, and time of administration on specified forms or records.
  • Maintain accounting of all medications, primarily controlled substances.
  • Presents medication to patient and observes ingestion or other application, or administers medication, using specified procedures.
  • Take patients' vitals such as blood pressure and pulse to determine changes brought about by new medication.
  • May receive supply of ordered medications and document inventory appropriately.
  • May record and restock medication inventories.
  • Conduct covid-19 testing at Housing facilities and as needed.
  • Complete UA'S on new intakes and as needed.
  • Knowledge of HIPPA regulations and the ability to demonstrate accuracy in observation and communicate effectively are major prerequisites of working at the position of a certified medication technician.
