Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
Facility based, the Medical Technician is in constant face-to-face contact with persons served primarily in a Day Program setting, but may also be assigned tasks and functions in a Residential Program setting. The Medical Technician's duties and responsibilities include checking that the medications match the doctor's orders, delivering them to the patients, staying while they take the medication, recording the time the medication was given, taking and recording the patient's vital signs, and noting any adverse effects the medication seems to have. The Med Tech also serves as a liaison between persons served and nurse and/ or Psychiatrist by relaying persons' needs or concerns. The Medical Technician consistently exercises discretion and sound judgment in the performance of the duties of the position.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Certified Medical Technician must have completed a 20-hour program taught by registered nurses and approved by the state's board of nursing. Certification must be renewed every two years. Must also have at least two years' experience providing med tech services.
