Certified Medication Aide, Level I Medication Aide, Caregiver Department:
Nursing Wellness Reports To:
Shift Supervisor, Resident Care Manager (MC), H&W Manager Newbridge Retirement Community encourages a service-oriented, goal driven, and passion for working with seniors with a focus on customer service. The Care Partner will be responsible for ensuring the quality services to assigned residents by providing care as defined by need based assessment and best ability to function programing. The position is a direct report to department supervisor, manager and/or director. I. Job Responsibilities Provides care to all assigned residents, assist team and others as indicated Dispenses medications as prescribed by health care providers in a manner approved by policy and procedures under regulatory guidelines Provides activities of daily living assistance to the residents as directed from each resident's Service Plan assessment. Provides Medication reminders and/or assistance according to state regulations. Provides verbal encouragement and support to residents. Provides report to caregivers on respective shift. Communicates to the Resident Services Director and/or supervisor when a resident's need has changed Communicates to other departments as resident needs arise during the shift Make rounds with off-going shift for report Supervises and assigns work for caregivers when requested by supervisor. Follows charting policy per state and company standards. Ensures appropriate chart set-up by caregivers or manager. Calls emergency contact people listed as required. Follows OSHA and state guidelines for facility compliance. Performs other duties as directed by supervisor II.Qualifications/Skills:
Ability to respond to medical emergencies Extensive knowledge in medical applications Strong verbal and written communication and organizational skills Familiarity with local health department, OSHA and other applicable state and federal regulations. Ability to work well with others, communicate clearly and take direction from management Provide direct patient care to assigned residents including ADL's (bathing, dressing, grooming and oral hygiene). Promote resident independence in ADL's Assist with ambulating or transferring residents to dining room, transfer to dining room chairs and assisting with plate preparation and feeding as needed Ability to take initiative and go above and beyond to meet resident needs Computer proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite as well as the ability to learn new applications Physical Activities-Ability to meet all physical demands of the position which includes, but is not limited to, seeing, speaking, touching, walking, standing, bending, reaching overhead, crouching/kneeling or crawling, as well as the ability to regularly lift/move up to 50lbs independently and up to 100lbs with assistance, occasionally use of stairs, moving freely from one site of the building to another, communicating with others to exchange information, repeating motions that may include wrists, hands and/or fingers, assessing the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned Flexibility and the ability to work weekends, as needed Familiarity with local and state health and sanitation and safety codes and applicable state and federal regulations Knowledge of principle and practices of supervision Must successfully complete additional training as outlined in employee handbook, required by Department of Health and Senior Service or other governing bodies.III Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent Completion of approved training program for medication administration program approved by Department of Health and Senior Services or transferable from other training program(s) One to three months related experience and/or training preferred Maintains current CPR/FA card as indicatedJob Types:
