Respite Manager and Program Supervisor Job Overview:
As a Respite Tech at in2Action, you will play a crucial role in providing compassionate support to men and women needing non-medical detoxing after a recurrence of substance use. You will work collaboratively with other technicians to ensure the safety and well-being of residents, maintain a clean and supportive environment, and provide peer support. This position requires diligence, empathy, and strong communication skills to effectively manage resident needs and ensure compliance with program expectations. This is a full-time position that will require primarily overnight and weekend shifts.
Key Responsibilities:
Resident Intake Process:
o Conduct resident intake process, including collecting demographics, consent forms, and other essential information. o Perform thorough searches of residents and their property, logging all items and conducting medication searches. o Conduct urinalysis o Provide necessary linens, toiletries, and assistance with settling residents into assigned accommodations.
Resident Discharge Process:
o Manage resident discharge process, collecting data to close resident files and ensuring completion of all necessary forms. o Confirm return of linens and belongings, and ensure all forms are completed, dated, and signed appropriately.
Medication Oversight:
o Store resident medication securely and facilitate medication oversight twice daily, observing residents taking medication and logging administration. o Accommodate additional medication needs and ensure proper documentation of medication oversight.
Resident Monitoring and Appointments:
o Conduct regular rounds of the facility every 45 minutes to ensure resident safety and well-being. o Diffuse any situations of self-harm or harm to others, provide peer support, and communicate effectively with residents. o Initiate contact with Respite Manger in case of resident crisis or need for additional services. o Assist residents with approved medical or legal appointments, including logistics and transportation arrangements. o Facilitate urinalysis upon temporary discharge for appointments and upon resident's return, updating communication apps with appointment information.
Resident Accommodations:
o Ensure residents have necessary accommodations, including food, linens, toiletries, clothing, and shoes. o Provide meals and snacks being mindful of resident allergies and diet.
Administrative Duties:
o Finalize intakes and discharges of residents. o Ensure compliance with the in2Action Handbook. o Perform other administrative tasks as necessary. o Other duties as assigned
Skills:
- Apply evidence-based recovery tools effectively to boost recovery capital.
- Employ Motivational Interviewing and Change Talk techniques to foster intrinsic motivation.
- Assess recovery capital accurately to tailor person-centered recovery plans, aiding program participants in achieving their individualized needs and short- and long-term goals.
- Implement contingency management principles adeptly to support positive behavioral changes.
- Utilize the Stages of Change and Readiness for Change models in evidence-based coaching interventions.
- Exhibit strong teamwork by actively engaging, providing valuable input, and ensuring the in2Action team remains well-informed.
Qualifications:
- Applicants should have a minimum of one year of sustained recovery and must have been released from incarceration for at least one year.
- Must have valid divers license and good driving record.
- Certified as a CPS or MRSS or eligible to be certified.
- Experience working in mental health institutions, substance use treatment, detox, or psychiatric wards preferred.
- Ability to treat residents with dignity, empathy, and compassion.
- Strong listening and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Good physical fitness and acute observation skills.
- Computer literacy and ability to complete administrative tasks.
Physical/Mental Requirements:
- Ability to stand, bend, stoop, and lift as needed.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain professionalism when working with residents experiencing mental health concerns and /or exhibiting escalating behaviors.
- Willingness to adapt to the demands of residents and the community.
