Position Summary:
The Medication Technician (Med Tech) is responsible for the safe and accurate administration of prescribed medications to residents in a residential treatment setting. This role supports clinical staff in maintaining medication compliance, monitoring resident health, and ensuring adherence to all regulatory and organizational standards.
Responsibilities:
Administer medications to residents as prescribed, following established protocols and physician orders Accurately document medication administration and maintain medication records (MARs) Monitor residents for side effects, adverse reactions, or changes in condition and report concerns to nursing staff Assist with medication storage, inventory, and audits to ensure compliance with regulations Communicate effectively with nurses, clinicians, and residential staff regarding resident care Support residents in understanding their medications and treatment plans (as appropriate) Maintain confidentiality of resident information in accordance with HIPAA guidelines Ensure a clean, organized, and safe medication administration environment Respond appropriately to medical emergencies and follow established procedures May include other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent required Certified Medication Technician (CMT) or Approved Medication Administration Personnel (AMAP) certification CPR/First Aid certification required Competent in Microsoft applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook Previous experience in residential treatment, behavioral health, or healthcare setting preferred
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of medication administration and basic pharmacology, as per AMAP training Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Knowledge of medical terminology Strong communication and interpersonal skills Calm and effective response in high-stress situations Team-oriented with a commitment to resident-centered care Fully understand and maintain policies regarding professional ethics, including appropriate boundaries and patient confidentiality.
Pay Rate:
$20.50 - $25.00
