Job Description

Overview Join our dedicated healthcare team as a Certified Medication Aide, where your expertise will directly enhance the quality of life for residents in assisted living, nursing homes, and home care settings. In this vital role, you will administer medications accurately, monitor patient health, and provide compassionate support to individuals with diverse needs, including those with Alzheimer's, dementia, and other memory care requirements. Your skills will contribute to creating a safe, respectful, and nurturing environment for seniors and individuals with disabilities. Duties Safely administer prescribed medications to residents following all federal and state regulations, including HIPAA compliance. Monitor vital signs and observe patients for adverse reactions or changes in condition, documenting findings meticulously in electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner. Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), including hygiene, mobility support, and feeding assistance such as tube feeding when necessary. Maintain accurate medical documentation and medication records in compliance with healthcare standards and facility policies. Support patients with specialized care needs such as catheter care, hospice care, and memory care programs tailored for Alzheimer's or dementia patients. Collaborate with nursing staff to develop and implement individualized care plans based on physiology knowledge, medical terminology, and patient history. Ensure a safe environment by adhering to infection control protocols and assisting in emergency response procedures when required. Qualifications Valid certification as a Medication Aide recognized by state licensing boards. Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or home & community care environments. Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and medication administration procedures. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner for accurate medical documentation. Experience caring for individuals with disabilities or chronic conditions like Alzheimer's disease or dementia. Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy and confidentiality.
