Job Description

Position Summary The Medication Aide (Med Tech) is responsible for the safe administration of medications and provision of direct resident care in accordance with physician orders, state regulations, and facility policies. This role supports resident well-being by ensuring accurate medication delivery, monitoring for changes in condition, and assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed. Key Responsibilities 1. Medication Administration Administer medications and treatments as ordered by the physician Follow the 5 Rights of Medication Administration at all times Accurately document medication administration in eMAR/TAR Observe and report adverse reactions or side effects Ensure proper medication storage, labeling, and handling Assist with medication refills and inventory as directed 2. Resident Care Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including: Bathing, dressing, grooming Toileting and incontinence care Mobility and transfers Provide compassionate, resident-centered care Respond promptly to call lights and resident needs Maintain resident dignity, privacy, and respect 3. Monitoring & Communication Monitor residents for changes in condition (physical, mental, behavioral) Report changes promptly to nurse or Wellness Director Document observations per facility policy Communicate effectively with team members, residents, and families 4. Documentation & Compliance Maintain accurate and timely documentation in all required systems Follow all facility policies and procedures Comply with state regulations for Assisted Living facilities Participate in audits, surveys, and quality assurance processes Maintain HIPAA compliance at all times 5. Infection Control & Safety Follow infection control protocols and standard precautions Maintain a clean and safe environment for residents Properly dispose of sharps and medical waste Report hazards, incidents, or safety concerns immediately Qualifications Current Medication Aide / Medication Technician certification (per state requirements) High school diploma or equivalent preferred Previous experience in Assisted Living, Memory Care, or healthcare setting preferred CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain) Ability to safely assist residents with mobility and care needs Skills & Competencies Strong attention to detail Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively Compassionate and patient-centered approach Ability to work independently and as part of a team Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift during shift Ability to assist residents with transfers and mobility (per facility policy) Ability to perform repetitive tasks such as medication passes Work Environment Assisted Living environment with elderly population Fast-paced setting requiring multitasking and flexibility Reporting Structure Reports to: Wellness Director / Nurse Works closely with: Caregivers, Med Techs, Administration Position Expectations Provide safe, accurate, and timely medication administration Maintain a high standard of care and professionalism Support team operations and contribute to a positive work environment Ensure compliance with all regulatory and facility requirements
Pay:
$18.00 - $25.00 per hour
