POSITION SUMMARY
The Medication Technician I has the responsibility of implementing interventions in accordance with the residents' support plan and physician orders. This position also includes involvement in staff development and performance improvement activities.
Services provided to the resident include medication administration, 1st Aid and assistance with general health issues.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
The Medication Technician shall have the responsibility to provide therapeutic support in accordance with the support plan.
Additional responsibilities will include administration of medications, assessment, medical evaluation, medication compliance 2. The Medication Technician shall have the responsibility to monitor and report on the progress of the resident as it relates to the support plan. 3. The Medication Technician shall have the responsibility to assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs) at a level in accordance with personal care home standards and regulations. Administers medications to residents in accordance with DPW med admin training. Manages documentation, including MARs, med counts, medication reordering.
Facilitates safety checks for all residents upon returning from leaves and home visits. Assists residents with packaging medications and going on leave. Assists residents with drug testing and special precautions. 6. Assists residents with general health issues and First Aide, including implementing checks as assigned. Assists residents in their Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), i.e.bathing, laundry, dental hygiene, incontinence, changing, toileting. Assists in maintaining a clean living environment. Displays knowledge regarding daily menu and activities and reminds/encourages resident participation. Completes routine checks to ensure individuals assigned are present, well, and free from possessing contraband, and that the facility is safe and secure. Displays knowledge of resident's diet and nutritional requirements and serves within the guidelines. 12. Recognizes potential and/or emergency situations and intervenes appropriately according to training guidelines. 13. Assists residents in evacuation during emergency management situations or drills. Assists with driving as needed
- transporting residents for appointments, picking up supplies, etc. 15. Participates in community meetings as designated. 16. Checks in with sick residents
- provides meals/assistance/checks as needed. 17. Assists residents with medical equipment as needed
- oxygen, CPAPs, nebulizers, walkers, etc.
Cleaning, refilling, turning on machines, etc.

KNOWLEDGE 1.
Working knowledge of Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare regulations related to Adult Residential Care, as well as the department's Regulatory Compliance Guide (RCG), as related to this position. 2. Knowledge of the Philadelphia Department of Behavioral Health Practice Guidelines, as related to this position. Certification in First Aid and CPR Fluent in English and literate. SKILLS Time management skills to create, prioritize and complete a daily task list. Keen observation skills. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
