Here at Cumberland Village Assisted Living (Cumberland Hills ), we are seeking a compassionate, professional, and detail-oriented Medication Technician (Full-time and Part-time, Night Shift 7p-7a) to join our team. The ideal candidate will be dedicated to providing high-quality resident care, ensuring the safe administration of medications, and supporting the health, comfort, and wellbeing of our residents. This position requires excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, dependability, and a commitment to maintaining resident dignity and independence in a caring and supportive environment.
Job Summary:
The Medication Technician is responsible for administering medications and assisting residents with their healthcare needs at Cumberland Village Assisted Living (Cumberland Hills).
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Administers prescribed medications to residents in accordance with physician instructions and facility protocols. Monitors residents for any adverse reactions or side effects from medications and reports findings to the nurse or supervisor. Assists residents with personal care tasks, including hygiene, grooming, and daily living activities, as needed. Maintains accurate and timely documentation of medication administration, observations, and resident care in compliance with regulatory standards. Prepares and organizes medication carts, ensuring proper storage and labeling of medications. Assists in taking and recording vital signs, such as blood pressure, temperature, and pulse, and reports any irregularities to the appropriate staff. Provides emotional support to residents and fosters a caring and positive environment. Communicates effectively with residents, families, and team members to address healthcare concerns and ensure quality care. Participates in training and orientation for new employees and contributes to maintaining a collaborative team atmosphere.
Requirements:
Required Skills/Abilities:
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow medication administration protocols accurately. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Dependable and punctual with a commitment to maintaining a safe and caring environment. Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Successful completion of a state-approved medication technician training program. Previous experience in a senior living or healthcare setting preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of standing and walking. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times. Ability to perform tasks requiring manual dexterity and physical stamina.
