Job Description

Core Responsibilities Administer prescribed medications (oral, topical, sometimes injections—depends on state laws) Follow the "five rights" of medication administration (right patient, drug, dose, time, route) Record medication administration in patient charts Monitor patients for side effects or adverse reactions Report concerns or changes in condition to nurses or supervisors Maintain medication storage and ensure proper labeling Assist with basic patient care Education & Requirements High school diploma or GED Completion of a state-approved Medication Aide training program
Medication Techs:
Work under the supervision of a licensed RN Cannot make independent medical decisions Cannot prescribe medications Are limited to certain types of medications depending on state regulations
