The ideal candidate will provide safe and effective medication administration and support to residents in assisted living, nursing homes, or home care settings. This role requires a strong understanding of patient care, medical documentation, and medication protocols, with a focus on enhancing the quality of life for individuals with various health conditions, including dementia and developmental disabilities. The Certified Medication Aide will work closely with nursing staff to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and deliver personalized care in a respectful and professional manner. Duties Administer prescribed medications accurately following physician orders and facility policies Monitor residents' vital signs and observe for adverse reactions or changes in condition Assist with activities of daily living, including mobility, hygiene, and feeding as needed Maintain detailed medical records using EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner Document medication administration, patient responses, and any incidents in accordance with HIPAA regulations Provide specialized care for residents with Alzheimer's, dementia, memory loss, or other cognitive impairments Support residents during tube feedings, catheter care, and other specialized procedures Collaborate with nursing staff to develop and implement individualized care plans Ensure compliance with safety standards and infection control protocols Educate residents and their families about medication management and health conditions Experience Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or home care environments is preferred Experience working with people with developmental disabilities or those requiring hospice or memory care is advantageous Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and medication administration protocols is essential Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner is beneficial Background in caregiving roles involving senior care, dementia care, or acute medical needs is highly valued Certification as a Medication Aide is required; ongoing training in medical documentation and HIPAA compliance is expected This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of residents by providing compassionate, professional healthcare support.
