JOB OVERVIEW
The PRN Medication Aide / Caregiver is responsible for providing personalized care and services to residents in the Assisted Living community. Responsibilities include assisting residents with activities of daily living, administering medications as delegated, performing light housekeeping and laundry tasks, assisting with meals, documenting care provided, and maintaining a safe and supportive environment for residents. All duties are performed in accordance with Timberwood Lodge policies, resident rights, and applicable DHS regulations. Duties and Responsibilities Resident Care Provide quality care and assistance to residents in accordance with the community philosophy, policies, and resident rights. Assist residents in meeting their physical, emotional, and social needs . Follow each resident's individual service plan and notify the Administrator or Nursing Services Coordinator of any change in a resident's condition. Answer and respond promptly to resident call lights . Conduct routine resident safety checks as required and document findings appropriately . Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, mobility, and eating as needed. Assist residents with Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs) as assigned. Encourage and assist residents to participate in community activities. Escort residents to meals and assist as necessary in the dining room. Maintain resident dignity, privacy, and independence at all times. Protect and uphold resident rights in accordance with DHS regulations. Medication Administration Administer medications according to physician orders, delegation guidelines, and facility policies . Accurately document medications administered in the electronic MAR/TAR system . Maintain safe storage and proper documentation of controlled substances and narcotics . Report medication concerns, refusals, or errors according to facility procedures. Housekeeping and Dining Assistance Assist with light housekeeping duties in resident rooms or apartments as assigned. Assist with laundry as needed. Help maintain cleanliness of the dining room following meals . Assist with meal service and resident dietary needs when required. Documentation and Communication Document care provided and resident observations in the electronic health record system . Provide accurate and timely shift report communication . Report any changes in resident condition immediately to the supervisor. Communicate effectively with residents, families, and team members. Follow confidentiality standards and share resident information on a "need-to-know" basis only. Safety and Compliance Follow OSHA safety standards and facility infection control procedures. Dispose of incontinent products and hazardous materials according to policy. Use proper body mechanics and lifting techniques . Respond appropriately to emergencies according to facility procedures. Notify management of accidents, injuries, or incidents immediately. Professional Expectations Maintain professional and respectful relationships with residents, families, and coworkers. Attend required staff meetings and training sessions . Be willing to learn and effectively utilize required computer software systems . Carry out duties assigned by the Administrator or supervisor. Qualifications Ability to communicate effectively in English. Ability to operate computer software systems used for documentation. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to provide compassionate care in an Assisted Living environment. Physical Requirements Ability to assist residents with mobility and transfers. Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift as required during a shift. Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations.
