Learning Guide (educator)

A Day in the Life at DiscoverU Academy We are a microschool- small learning environment, and have experienced growth over the last 5 years. As we continue to grow we are in need of exceptional and supportive Learning Guides. As a Learning Guide at DiscoverU Academy, no two days look exactly the same — and that's part of the magic. Our Learning Guides help create a calm, engaging, relationship-centered environment where students feel encouraged to learn, explore, and grow. This is not a traditional classroom role focused solely on lectures or worksheets. Instead, Learning Guides mentor students through academics, social-emotional growth, hands-on projects, collaboration, and real-life learning experiences.

A typical day may include:

Supporting students in reading, writing, and ELA-based activities Helping students stay focused, organized, and motivated Leading small groups or one-on-one support sessions Encouraging creativity, critical thinking, and curiosity Assisting students through challenging emotional or behavioral moments with patience and consistency Supporting project-based learning and collaborative activities Helping maintain a peaceful, welcoming, and structured environment Communicating positively with students, staff, and families The ideal Learning Guide is: Patient and emotionally steady Flexible and adaptable Creative and solution-oriented Strong in communication and relationship-building Passionate about helping children succeed Comfortable stepping into both leadership and support roles as needed At DiscoverU Academy, we believe relationships come before rigor — and students thrive when they feel connected, supported, and empowered.
