Level I IVP Fingerprint Card Job Overview The Behavior Assistant provides direct behavioral and emotional support to primary school students Grades K-2. The core mission is to help students manage challenging behaviors, develop positive social-emotional skills, and successfully access their learning environment. Operating under the direct supervision of the School Principal and in collaboration with classroom teachers, and Special Education staff. This role is essential for maintaining a safe, inclusive, and productive learning community. Key Responsibilities
Implement Behavior Plans:
Execute individualized Behavior Support Plans (BSP) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP).
Provide De-escalation:
Utilize approved physical and verbal de-escalation techniques during behavioral crises. Run 1:1 and
Small Group Interventions:
Deliver direct instruction on replacement behaviors and social-emotional skills.
Support Daily Transitions:
Guide assigned students safely through daily transitions.
Build Rapport:
Establish positive, trusting, and supportive relationships with students.
Prepare Visual Aids:
Create token boards, visual schedules, and emotional-regulation tools under teacher guidance.
PROBATIONARY PERIOD
There is a probationary period of (90) days. At the end of that time, the employee will be evaluated by his/her supervisors. If the evaluation is favorable, the employee will continue to work for the District. An unfavorable evaluation will result in termination. General Job Requirements
  • Must be punctual in all assignments
  • Observe all district policies appropriate to this position
  • Accept the responsibility of assigned tasks
  • Comply with confidential guidelines
  • Attend training sessions required by Administration
  • Ability to regularly lift, carry, and move students or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and bending at the waist to engage with students at their level.
  • Demonstrated patience and empathy when working with students
  • Perform other general duties as assigned
