Do you enjoy supporting adults as they build independence, life skills, and confidence? As a Behavior Support Companion , you'll work primarily with an adult with developmental disabilities in their home and community settings. This role focuses on relationship-building, daily living support, behavioral management, and community participation—while also providing meaningful respite for families and caregivers.
This is a part-time position:
Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday 10 am - 5pm , ideal for individuals interested in careers in psychology, ABA, social work, healthcare, education, or human services. Key Responsibilities Provide one-to-one support to an adult client, focusing primarily on activities of daily living (ADLs) and behavioral support Support emotional regulation, communication, and appropriate social interactions. Encourage independence while ensuring safety and dignity. Provide respite support for families and caregivers. Maintain respectful, professional relationships with clients and families. Engage clients in age-appropriate activities based on their interests and goals. Complete accurate documentation and service notes for each client. Qualifications High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent. Basic computer and documentation skills. Experience and/or familiarity with developmental disabilities required (professional, academic, or personal). Pre-Employment Requirements Valid driver's license, auto insurance with liability coverage, and a clear DMV report. Reliable, operational vehicle. CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain). Department of Justice fingerprint background clearance. Physical Activity Requirements Ability to lift and carry items up to 20 pounds. Ability to assist or guide clients who may require physical support. Ability to participate in community-based and recreational activities. Training Approximately 40 hours of paid training during the first three months of employment. Includes competency-based instruction, supervised field training, and ongoing professional development from IABA staff and external agencies. Schedule Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday 10 am - 5 pm Approximately 21 hours/week Compensation $20-$22/hour depending on years of experience
Important Details:
This role involves unsupervised, direct support of children and/or adults in home, school, and community settings. Duties include implementing behavior plans, managing behavioral escalations, assisting with daily living needs, entering private residences, and accessing confidential health and personal information. Employment is contingent upon meeting applicable pre-employment requirements, which may include verification of education, employment history, credentials, motor vehicle records (if applicable), and other role- or state-specific requirements.
