Job Description
Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, transport patients to and from out-patient programs and facilities, appointments and services; learn to assist and participate in a variety of therapeutic programs and activities for mental health patients; assist patients in developing vocational, social, self-help and money management skills. Behavioral Health Worker I provides transportation to patients as a majority of duties and learns to and assists in providing therapeutic activities at an assigned mental health program. Behavioral Health Worker II is the advanced level classification in the series. Incumbents assist and participate in activities at an assigned behavioral health program, may transport patients and may serve as a lead over Behavioral Health Worker I, but the primary responsibilities are provision of therapeutic activities. High school diploma or GED; one year experience working in the human services field is desirable. Valid California Class C Driver's license. Depending upon assignment, a Class B Driver's License may be required. A valid driver's license may be required at the time of appointment and employees may also be required to drive their own vehicle and provide proof of liability insurance as per Vehicle Code VC § 160020. Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to a disability will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This position may require pre-employment drug test, physical examination, and fingerprinting for a background investigation.
