Mental Health Specialist As a Mental Health Specialist, you will collaborate closely with school staff, teachers, and leadership to support students with significant behavioral and emotional needs. With a deep belief in each student's potential, you will provide individualized support using evidence-based mental health and behavioral interventions. You'll serve as a key member of a multidisciplinary team committed to delivering comprehensive, compassionate care.
Key Responsibilities:
Partner with educators and school leaders to promote the emotional and behavioral well-being of students across a diverse range of developmental, cultural, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Lead psych-educational Groups and community meetings and assist in social skills training Deliver on-site, real-time support to students throughout the school day, including in classrooms, common areas, and during transitions. Assist in the development and implementation of individualized behavior and mental health support plans. Monitor, document, and analyze behavioral data to track progress and guide interventions. Apply trauma-informed, positive behavioral interventions and support (PBIS) strategies in alignment with school-wide practices. Utilize de-escalation and crisis intervention techniques, including physical safety interventions when necessary, to maintain a safe and supportive environment. Promote a safe, inclusive, and affirming school culture that nurtures students' social-emotional development. Collaborate with psychologists, counselors, behavior specialists, and other professionals to create tailored support systems for students with intensive needs. Engage in debriefing and reflective practices following behavioral or crisis events to support continuous improvement. Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers, providing updates and fostering strong partnerships to support student growth. SESI.AT.2
