The Aptus Group is building a dependable team of Substitute Aides to support our partner schools across Los Angeles County for the 2026-2027 school year. Whether you want day-to-day flexibility, long term or a path to a set role. This role provides coverage for both:
- Behavior Technician (BII) — implementing behavior support plans, 1:1 student support, data collection
- Special Education Aide (Paraprofessional) — classroom support for students with disabilities
Pay Rate:
$23 per hour
Schedule:
School days between 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM (varied by site) Coverage areas include: Mid City, North East Los Angeles, South East Los Angeles, Compton, San Pedro, San Fernando Valley Why work With Us

Required:
High school diploma or equivalent
- 60 college units or an AA/AS degree is preferred
- At least 6 months of experience working with children or youth in school, clinical, or community settings
- Availability on school days between 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM
- Reliable transportation to school sites across LA County
- Strong communication skills and ability to stay calm and adaptable
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds as needed
- Current TB clearance; ability to pass background check and live scan
- Background in education, psychology, or child development is preferred What you'll do:
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with special needs
- Assist with classroom instruction and reinforce lessons as directed by the teacher
- Help students complete assignments, classwork, and basic academic tasks
- Support behavior management using established plans and teacher-directed strategies
- Assist with classroom routines, transitions, and daily activities (e.g., lunch, recess)
- Provide social-emotional support and help students with self-regulation
- Assist with toileting, diapering, and hygiene needs as required
- Support students with mobility and safe transitions throughout the school day
- Monitor, collect, and report student progress and behavior to the team
- Maintain a safe, structured, and positive learning environment
- Follow all safety, health, confidentiality, and school protocols
