Recovery Support Specialist- REACH Program NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) - 4.3 Oak Park, IL Job Details Full-time $24 an hour 2 hours ago Benefits 403(b) matching Dental insurance Paid time off Vision insurance Qualifications Certified Recovery Specialist Full Job Description NAMI MS is a practiced and dedicated organization delivering wellness and recovery mentoring, education, self-advocacy skills coaching, and other mental health/substance use wellness and recovery supports. NAMI MS continues to address the multidirectional relationship of basic, immediate, and critical needs and social determinants of health, alongside supports specific to promoting mental wellness. Recovery Support Specialist (RSS) provides peer-based outreach, engagement, crisis intervention, and resource navigation services to individuals experiencing mental health challenges, substance use concerns, homelessness, or housing instability on and near the CTA Green Line. Working as part of a collaborative dyad model alongside Housing Forward Outreach Workers, the RSS supports individuals in accessing behavioral health services, shelter, housing resources, and community-based supports while promoting dignity, safety, and recovery-oriented care. This role is full time, non- exempt, working Monday through Friday from 4p-12a, reporting to the Oak Park Living Room Coordinator.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Outreach and Engagement:
Conduct outreach and engagement activities with individuals experiencing homelessness, behavioral health challenges, or crisis situations on or near the CTA Green Line. Build rapport using trauma-informed, recovery-oriented, and person-centered approaches grounded in peer support principles. Provide peer emotional support through shared lived experience, mutuality, respect, and voluntary participation. Work collaboratively in a dyad model with partner agencies during all assigned shifts. Assist individuals in identifying immediate needs, personal goals, and available community resources. Facilitate referrals and connections to housing resources, behavioral health services, and other community based supports Link individuals to behavioral health services other community resources. Assist with transportation coordination when appropriate and available.
Crisis Intervention and Support:
Provide crisis de-escalation and behavioral health support Conduct safety screenings to identify urgent psychiatric or safety concerns and coordinate emergency responses when necessary. Support individuals experiencing emotional distress, psychiatric symptoms, or substance use-related challenges in a calm and nonjudgmental manner. Follow established protocols related to safety, emergency response, mandatory reporting, and crisis intervention.
Collaboration and Communication:
Coordinate with CTA personnel, partner agencies, local municipalities, crisis response teams, and community partners to support safe and effective outreach efforts. Participate in team meetings, case conferencing, shift planning, and program evaluation activities. Communicate professionally and effectively in high-stress and rapidly changing environments. Maintain appropriate boundaries and represent the organization in a professional manner at all times.
Administrative Duties:
Complete required documentation, data collection, incident reporting, and service records accurately and within established timelines. Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and all applicable privacy and documentation standards. Ensure compliance with organizational policies, grant requirements, CTA protocols, and applicable regulations.

$24.00 per hour
