Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Life Skills Instructional Aide to support individuals with developmental disabilities, including those with autism and other disabilities, in enhancing their daily living skills and promoting independence. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve by providing personalized assistance, fostering social engagement, and encouraging growth in a supportive environment. The ideal candidate will be energetic, patient, and committed to empowering individuals to achieve their goals through direct support and skill development. Responsibilities Assist individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs), such as grooming, hygiene, dressing, and meal preparation, ensuring safety and dignity at all times Support participants in developing life skills including communication, social interaction, self-care, and community engagement Implement behavior management strategies tailored to each individual's needs to promote positive behaviors and reduce challenging behaviors Collect and document data on progress toward personal goals, behavioral changes, and skill acquisition accurately and consistently Facilitate communication using techniques such as American Sign Language (ASL) when applicable, ensuring effective interaction with individuals with diverse communication needs Provide transportation support by driving participants to appointments, activities, or community outings while adhering to safety protocols Assist with medication administration following prescribed guidelines when trained and authorized to do so Requirements Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, or related conditions is highly preferred Knowledge of special education principles and behavioral health practices is advantageous Strong communication skills, including proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL), are desirable Demonstrated ability in behavior management techniques and caregiving responsibilities Home & community care experience is beneficial; familiarity with assisting with ADLs is essential Ability to drive safely and responsibly; valid driver's license required Experience in data collection related to behavioral or skill progress is a plus Compassionate attitude with excellent interpersonal skills for working effectively with individuals of all ages and abilities Join us in creating a positive impact! Pay:
$17.14 - $24.72 per hour
