Job Description

Position Summary The School Health Aide provides dedicated, one-on-one medical and personal care support for a student in an essential skills classroom. This role is critical to ensuring the student's safety, health, and access to education throughout the school day. The ideal candidate is compassionate, attentive, and trained in medical support procedures. Key Responsibilities Administer medications via G-tube as prescribed and in compliance with school and medical protocols. Provide frequent suctioning throughout the school day in accordance with medical guidelines and student needs. Assist with oral feeding and hydration , ensuring safe swallowing practices and monitoring intake. Support the student with toileting needs , maintaining dignity, hygiene, and comfort. Assist with lifting, positioning, and transfers using proper techniques and equipment to ensure student and staff safety. Monitor and document the student's health status, reporting any concerns to the school nurse or appropriate staff. Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and healthcare staff to support the student's educational and medical needs. Maintain a clean, safe, and supportive environment for the student. Qualifications Certification as a LPN Experience working with children, particularly those with complex medical needs, is highly desirable. Training and/or experience with G-tube care, suctioning, and feeding assistance preferred. Ability to perform physical tasks , including lifting and transfers. Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team. Current CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
