TITLE:
Mental Health/Behavior Consultant
QUALIFICATIONS
Masters Degree/Licensure/Certification in Counseling, Mental Health, Clinical Social Work or Psychology. Experience working with students who exhibit challenging behaviors/Mental Health issues.
REPORTS TO
Director of Student Services/Building Principal
SUPERVISES

JOB GOAL
To assist school personnel with early intervention, collection of behavioral data, development and implementation of behavioral plans, treatment and interventions and IEP implementation.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Participate in meetings to assist classroom teachers with the collection of baseline data, development and implementation of behavioral intervention strategies for students exhibiting behavior/mental health issues. Consult with, provide training, and/or model research based behavior strategies for school staff with regard to individual behavior plans and crisis intervention plans. Complete Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) and Behavioral Assessments as needed for students exhibiting mental health issues. Provide Crisis Response Assessment and immediate assistance to school staff with students whose behaviors create a crisis situation in the classroom or at the school. Provide assistance in the development and implementation of specific plans for students with special needs including participation in child's IEP if indicated. Provide individual and/or group therapy as needed for students exhibiting mental health issues. Review all behavioral checklists, observe, and make recommendations. Locate appropriate resources to support behavior interventions. Collaborate with outside agencies and/or facilities and provide assistance to school personnel with the coordination of student transfer from facility back to school settings. Provide training and support services to parent and staff in individual or group settings. Adhere to professional code of ethics as established by Education Professional Standards Board. Perform other duties as assigned by his/her immediate supervisor.
