QUALIFICATIONS Required:
Any combination equivalent to: high school diploma, GED Certificate or demonstrated progress toward obtaining a GED as required by Kentucky law.
Preferred:
Valid First Aid and CPR Certificate issued by an authorized agency. Health care experience preferred.
Knowledge Of:
  • Basic First Aid and age-appropriate CPR techniques.
  • Health and safety regulations.
  • Modern office practices, procedures and equipment.
  • Record-keeping techniques.
  • Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary.
  • Oral and written communications skills.
  • Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Summary:
Administer basic first aid procedures and screen ill or injured children, staff and visitors in accordance with State laws and District regulations; prepare and maintain a variety of records, files and reports; work in compliance with delegation regulations as provided by supervising RN.
Essential Functions, Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform basic first aid and screen ill or injured children and staff according to established procedures.
  • Utilize a variety of health products and supplies in caring for injuries and health needs.
  • Complete accident reports and documentation.
  • Administer first aid in emergency situations and notify nurse, administrator, parents or paramedics appropriately.
  • Prepare, maintain and type a variety of health-related records and files including student health records, emergency medical records, accident reports and health and disability reports.
  • Prepare correspondence, forms, notices and referrals.
  • Maintain files and materials as needed.
  • Maintain the health office in a clean, orderly and safe condition.
  • Assist in maintaining inventory and order first aid supplies as necessary.
  • Attend meetings, training and assist other school personnel as required.
  • Operate standard office equipment as necessary.
  • Work cooperatively with others.
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle medical information with discretion.

ENVIRONMENT
Work Environment:
Indoor, environmentally controlled. Typical office environment including but not limited to telephones, personal interruptions, background noises. The person in this position will be exposed to various illnesses, injuries, and bodily fluids. This position requires appropriate use of PPE. May require working with or near the public, parents, and children and will be subject to sounds, scents, and other related environmental factors.
