Job Description

Community Support Associate (CSA) School-Based Position | Astra Behavioral Health As a Community Support Associate, you'll work with children and adolescents in schools and Day Treatment programs , helping them manage behavior, emotions, and social interactions in real-time environments. This role is hands-on, active, and requires consistency . What You'll Actually Be Doing Working directly with youth who may struggle with: Behavior challenges Emotional regulation Social skills Supporting them throughout structured environments like: Schools Day Treatment programs Teaching real-life skills like: Coping strategies Communication skills Problem-solving Collaborating with teachers, program staff, and treatment teams Completing required documentation (this is a key part of the role) What the Schedule Looks Like Year-round position (not based on a school calendar) Generally consistent schedule Some variation based on program needs What You Need to Qualify High School Diploma or GED (Associate degree preferred) At least 1 year of experience working with: Children, OR Individuals with behavioral or mental health challenges Valid Kentucky driver's license and reliable transportation required Ability to work independently and stay organized Strong communication and documentation skills Additional Requirements Must pass: Criminal background check CPS (Child Protective Services) check Driving record check Frequent travel is required , including transporting clients when needed Must be comfortable working in structured, fast-paced environments Must be willing to complete required Safe Crisis Management (SCM) training (provided by Astra) after hire Physical Expectations This is an active role , not sedentary May require: Standing and moving for extended periods Managing behaviors in real-time Participating in Safe Crisis Management (SCM) interventions when necessary What Will Make You Successful You're patient and calm under pressure You can build trust with kids and staff You're consistent and dependable You can manage challenging behaviors professionally A Quick Reality Check This role is: ✔ Structured ✔ Hands-on ✔ Impactful But it also requires: Patience Flexibility Physical engagement Strong boundaries Reliable documentation Why Astra?
