DSW worker Community Health Care - 3.2 Lafayette, LA Job Details Part-time | Full-time $10 - $12 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications Driver's License Full Job Description Overview Join our dedicated team as a Direct Support Worker (DSW), where you will play a vital role in empowering individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, and other special needs to live fulfilling, independent lives. As a DSW, your energy and enthusiasm will make a meaningful difference in the lives of those you serve, helping them achieve their goals with dignity and respect. Responsibilities Assist individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation to promote independence and well-being. Support behavioral health and behavior management strategies to encourage positive behaviors and emotional stability. Attend or support for appointments, community outings, or errands while maintaining safety protocols. Collect data on progress and behaviors to track development and inform care plans. Administer medications accurately following prescribed instructions and document all medication-related activities meticulously. Offer caregiving support in home and community settings, fostering social skills and community engagement. Experience Prior experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, or other disabilities is highly preferred. Knowledge of special education principles and behavioral health practices enhances your ability to support diverse needs effectively. Experience in home & community care environments demonstrates your adaptability and commitment to personalized support. Strong communication skills are essential for collaborating with team members, families, and the individuals served. Familiarity with data collection methods, social work practices, and medication administration is advantageous. Valid driving credentials are required for transportation responsibilities As well as a background check. Previous childcare or caregiving experience can be beneficial in fostering trust and rapport with clients. This will be days and nights in the lafayette area.
