Residential Support Staff Description:
This position is part of a 24 hours a day, 7 days a week team of professionals providing shelter and support for homeless families. RSS in conjunction with other professionals, are responsible for the provision of basic services to clients and for the safe day to day operation of House of Hope. The overriding goal of the shelter is to move families out of shelter and this position supports that culture in all ways possible. We are currently hiring overnight shift, Friday through Tuesday, 12am-8am. Key responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to: Initiate and maintain appropriate social Interactions with residents and assist residents as needed Conduct and record hourly rounds of shelter to maintain safety and security of residents Assist with preparation, serving and cleanup of meals during the shift Intervene if a resident in crisis (medical, mental health, interpersonal) Record in the HOH blog any incidents occurring during the shift Complete assigned tasks of shift Answer phones, door, and greet guests; use walkie-talkies at all times during shift Take direction from HOH staff on duty and assist as needed Maintain order and cleanliness of work area Monitor bedrooms, bathrooms, and dayrooms to maintain the safety and security of residents and the premises Attend and participate in monthly staff meeting and any other required trainings When working with a per diem, a full-time employee will be the person giving direction and making decisions on shift Will help with shoveling and work during snow storms May be involved in room clean ups and packing rooms Will work at assigned shelter as directed by supervisor
Additional Responsibilities:
Answer phones, greet residents and direct them accordingly Consult with other staff and or outside agencies as needed regarding resident issues Help to oversee and support any volunteers present at House of Hope Maintain confidentiality of all resident information
Experience, Skills and Qualities:
High School diploma, some college preferred Maturity, good judgment, empathetic, compassionate Ability to interact with a culturally diverse community, willingness to learn on the job and take direction
Bilingual:
English/Spanish preferred but not required
Pay:
$22.00 - $23.00 per hour
