Job Description

With over 30 years in business, the Delta-T Group has built a reputation for referring highly qualified professionals for rewarding short and long-term independent contract opportunities. Our Client is seeking Direct Support Shelter Advocates. Immediate Start!!! $21/hr. Summary of Client's Description Of This Opportunity This position is part of a 24 hours a day, 7 days a week team of professionals providing shelter and support for homeless families. We are responsible for the provision of basic services to clients and for the safe day to day operation of the shelter. The overriding goals of the shelter is to move families out of shelter and this position supports that culture in all ways possible. The shelter is located in Medford, MA.
Key responsibilities of the position:
  • Initiate and maintain appropriate social Interactions with residents and assist residents as needed
  • Conduct rounds of shelter to maintain safety and security of residents
  • Assist with preparation, serving and cleanup of meals during the shift
  • Intervene if a resident in crisis (medical, mental health, interpersonal)
  • Complete assigned tasks of shift
  • Maintain order and cleanliness of the shelter
  • Monitor bedrooms, bathrooms, and dayrooms to maintain the safety and security of residents and the premises
  • Attend and participate in monthly staff meeting and any other required trainings
  • May be involved in rooms clean ups and packing rooms Client's Requirements
  • Previous work with homeless individuals and/or families, disabilities or other at-risk populations
  • Ability to work alone and handle crises with good judgment, adequate communication skills - both written and oral
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certifications are a plus .
  • Must be able to occasionally ascend/descend stairs up to three or more sets, frequently move equipment weighing up to 5-20 lbs., and remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
  • Additional Essential Functions
  • Sitting, standing, reaching above, stooping, bending, pushing, pulling, traversing, thinking, speaking, writing, concentrating, interaction with others.
