To Be Determined Job Description Newburyport High School is seeking a talented student focused administrator to join their administration team. The selected individual will assist in leading the school community in positively-oriented behavior supports with a focus on high academic and behavioral expectations, social-emotional development, and a productive school environment while overseeing specialized special education programming. Position is 199 days per year
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
(include but are not limited to): Collaborates with the Director of Special Education while overseeing Special Education Programming Assist the Administrative Team with student discipline systems, establishing the social culture and behavioral supports needed for the school to be a safe, respectful, and effective learning environment for all students. Work in partnership with teachers and administrators in supervision and evaluation of teaching staff Oversee student culture & discipline systems, including the following: Restorative Practices Office Disciplinary Referral System Parent meetings, re-entry and behavior contacts Acknowledge positive behavior and supporting acknowledgment systems Arrange for consistent consequences for problem behavior Support a continuum of intervention supports Mediate peer conflict situations among students, while setting behavioral expectations. Communicate regularly with parents/guardians of students exhibiting at-risk or repeat behaviors Meet with parents as necessary to address concerns regarding behavior and/or school culture Serve as support to office disciplinary referrals during the school day and monitor daily attendance and tardiness Collect data and suggest and implement continual improvements to current behavior support system Review and report out on student attendance, which includes monitoring and analyzing data, implementing school-wide interventions, and supporting students and families with chronic absenteeism Support the implementation of positively oriented behavior plans for individual students May lead staff training in classroom management and other important functions of school culture Work in conjunction with the principal and assistant principal to handle various duties, including entrance and dismissal monitoring, and cafeteria duty. Assist with the management of the documentation of all student behavioral concerns. Perform other related tasks and assume other related responsibilities as may from time to time be as assigned by the Principal The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees assigned to this classification.
