Job Description

As an Assistant Behavior Specialist, you will: Assist the Senior Behavior Specialist and unit staff in a variety of ways in support of behavior programming and implementation for patients on assigned unit(s). Assist in the organization and monitoring of data collection, complete behavior documents, assist in training staff in the patients' behavior plans, communicate with team in a variety of settings, and provide coverage as needed. Work independently within the guidelines and direction of the Unit Director and Senior Behavior Specialist. Attend meetings and provides supervision and coverage in the absence of the Senior Behavior Specialist.
Requires:
Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology or related field of study and at least 6 months of experience either working with individuals with special needs or behavior analysis (i.e. knowledge of crisis intervention techniques, psychological principles, behavior modification principles, psychiatric terminology and diagnoses, skills in using Microsoft Excel). Certification as a Registered Behavior Technician will be considered in lieu of Bachelor's degree. Individuals who do not possess certification as a Registered Behavior Technician will be required to obtain it within established time period (approximately 6 months) in the role. A Master's in Applied Behavioral Analysis or related filed may be accepted in lieu of RBT. Strong interpersonal skills sufficient to train, orient, and provide support to staff regarding patients' behavior plans, and to interact with patients on a regular basis to model behavior plans, assist staff, and support clinical programs. Work requires analytical and organizational abilities sufficient to train and assist staff in collecting, documenting, and data entry of behavioral data and in preparing meaningful summary data in charts and graphs. #LI-LM1
