In this vital role, you will support classroom teachers by implementing behavior management strategies, assisting with curriculum delivery, and fostering a positive learning environment for students with developmental disabilities, autism, and other special needs. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with children, promote their growth, and develop your skills in special education and behavior support. Duties Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's needs. Assist in designing and executing engaging lesson plans that incorporate literacy, math, social skills, and sensory activities. Support children's social-emotional development through positive behavior management techniques and consistent reinforcement. Manage classroom routines and transitions smoothly to create a structured environment conducive to learning. Monitor student progress, document behavioral observations, and communicate updates to the teaching team regularly. Provide hands-on support in early childhood education settings, including preschool or toddler care environments, ensuring safety and nurturing development. Requirements Prior experience working with children in classroom or childcare settings, especially within special education or early childhood programs. Knowledge of childhood development principles and classroom management strategies. Familiarity with behavior management techniques and curriculum development for students with disabilities. Experience working with individuals with autism, developmental disabilities, or deaf education is highly desirable. Ability to communicate effectively using verbal skills and alternative methods such as American Sign Language (ASL). Demonstrated patience, empathy, and strong communication skills to support diverse learners. Relevant certifications or coursework in special education, childhood education, or related fields are preferred; Montessori or preschool experience is a plus.
