Position Title:
Assistant Program Manager- Mental Health Location:
The Assistant Program Manager Mental Health is responsible for ensuring staff coverage in a group home setting and assisting the Program Manager Mental Health in ensuring compliance with health, safety, funding, and program standards. The position provides on-site program management and supervision in compliance with health, safety, funding and program standards. The position calls for both administrative duties and direct care support for clients as needed during on-duty hours.
Essential Job Functions:
Provide for the care and supervision of consumers including the direct supervision of activities of daily living (e.g., cooking, personal hygiene, transportation) Provide reinforcement of counseling and therapy activities Provide assistance with medications and the performance of tasks delegated by licensed nursing staff and complete documentation as required by policy and procedures Provide direct supervision of the individual's safety and security through preventative techniques Handle or intervene in crisis situations when necessary as appropriate, which may include contacting the on-call person and/or taking or getting the individual to the emergency room or crisis program Assist in securing and providing transportation Provide rehabilitation, participate in program plan implementation, and provide continuous instruction, supervision, training, and encouragement as outlined in individual service plans Advocate for consumer's rights and assist in facilitating inclusion in community activities, use of natural supports, social interaction, participation in leisure activities, and development of socially valued behaviors Ensure preparation of meals and encourage consumer involvement with meal planning and preparation as indicated by individual need Meet with the Mentor(s) or other designated staff on a monthly basis Assist in interviewing/onboarding new employees and giving them a tour of the program Assist in checking new employees' work experience, as assigned Meet with Program Manager Mental Health on a weekly basis to discuss consumer needs and treatment plans Complete preventive maintenance reports as required for facilities and vehicles, including fire drills, vehicle reports, pest control, and related issues Arrange repairs and maintenance for equipment, appliances, and vehicles by contracting appropriate personnel and following through to ensure completion Advise supervisor of any special needs or emergencies and recommend follow-up Develop and maintain positive relationships with consumers, families, and other agencies
Education, Experience, and Qualifications:
At least two years of relevant college coursework required, bachelor's degree preferred At least two years of experience working in a residential setting for people with mental illness is preferred Knowledge of behavioral patterns and issues related to individuals with mental illness, including crisis situations, knowledge of basic homemaking skills, understanding of community resources, implementation of individual treatment plans/goals, and documentation of care is needed Supervisory experience is preferred Excellent organizational, time and record management skills Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required MHRT 1 certification is preferred Valid Maine driver's license and good driving record is required Excellent computer skills, proficiency in
Microsoft Office Working Conditions:
This position works in a residential group home for people diagnosed with mental illness and in a regular office environment. The employee will be regularly required to sit, walk, stand; bend, reach with hands and arms; lift up to 25 lbs.; use hands repetitively to finger, handle, feel or operate standard office equipment; talk and hear, both in person and by telephone. Must be able to drive to program sites on an as needed basis.
