AFSCME 2733 Unit B JOB SUMMARY Under the supervision of a higher classified employee provides medical support services to individuals with a developmental disability and/or mental illness receiving services from WCCMH.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Essential Duties:
Verifies consumer information by interviewing consumer and recording medical history. Assists with consumer medication refills. Prepares consumers for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature; collect test samples and record consumer history summary. Assist the nurse and physician in maintaining medical inventory and placing orders for new materials as needed. Document consumer information in the WCCMH electronic clinical record. Clean and prepare examination rooms prior to consumer appointments. Uses standard office equipment including a personalputer in the course of the work. May drive a County or personal vehicle in the course of the work. Performs other duties as assigned. EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
High level of professionalism Excellent written and verbalmunication skills Strong customer service skills Knowledge of the Michigan Mental Health Code including Recipient Rights and Confidentiality provisions. Knowledge ofmon developmental disorders and multiple diagnoses including chronic mental illness or substance abuse. Interventions and support needs of adults with multiple, chronic and serious health problems and behavioral needs.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
Possession of a valid Michigan Driver's License.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Duties require sufficient mobility to work in a normal office setting and use standard office equipment including aputer, vision to read ed materials, aputer monitor, and hearing and speech sufficient tomunicate in person or over the telephone. Duties may require employee to exert/lift 50 or more pounds of force occasionally, 20 to 50 pounds of force frequently, or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly. Duties may require working in a confined space, bending, stooping, standing for extended periods of time, a moderate to extensive amount of walking, working outdoors during all weather conditions, and use of adaptive equipment. These requirements may be amodated for otherwise qualified individuals requiring a reasonable amodation.
EDUCATION
Possession of a high school diploma and MA Certification or Registered Medical Assistant in the State of Michigan.
EXPERIENCE
Six months prior experience working in the medical field preferably with adults with developmental disabilities and/or mental illness. This class description intends to identify the major duties and requirements of the job and should not be interpreted as all-inclusive.
