Job Description

Are you a caring, dependable person who enjoys working with children and young adults? Are you interested in learning how to support individuals with Autism as they build communication, social, self-care, and daily living skills? If so, Copper Country Mental Health Services has a rewarding part-time opportunity as an Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) Aide in Houghton, Michigan. No previous behavioral health experience is required for candidates who are interested, reliable, and ready to learn. Training will be provided to help you feel prepared and confident in this important work.
WHAT YOU'LL DO.
You will provide direct support to children and young adults with Autism by helping carry out treatment and training activities. Your work will support skill-building, independence, communication, and positive interaction with others.
Your responsibilities will include:
helping children and young adults build functional communication skills supporting independent self-care and daily living tasks assisting with receptive and expressive language development encouraging play, social, and imitation skills following treatment and training plans with guidance and support helping individuals build skills that support positive interaction with peers working respectfully and patiently with clients, families, and team members
WHAT WE OFFER.
$19.58 per hour + paid training to help you learn the role. Retirement plan. Paid time off. Part-time schedule of up to 20 hours per week and will be based on client needs.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR.
High school diploma or G.E.D. required. Must be 18 years of age or older. Valid driver's license required. Willingness and ability to complete required training. Ability to interact positively with clients and follow training/treatment plans. A patient, dependable, and compassionate approach to working with children and young adults. Ability to successfully complete required post-offer health, safety, tuberculosis, and background screenings in accordance with applicable law, regulation, and agency policy for positions working with children and vulnerable individuals.
