No benefits offered Position Overview Uplift & Inspire Counseling and Consulting is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Behavioral Health Office Assistant/Billing Specialist to join our team. This position is responsible for supporting daily office operations while managing key billing and insurance-related functions. The ideal candidate will have experience in behavioral health or medical office administration and possess a strong understanding of insurance claims processing, billing procedures, denial management, and client account support. This role requires the ability to work independently, maintain confidentiality, and effectively manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced mental health practice. Key ResponsibilitiesOffice Administration Answer and direct incoming phone calls professionally. Schedule, confirm, and manage client appointments. Greet clients and facilitate check-in/check-out procedures. Create, maintain, and update client records within the electronic health record system. Manage incoming correspondence, faxes, and office communications. Maintain office supplies and coordinate office needs. Billing & Insurance Verify client insurance eligibility and benefits. Submit, track, and monitor insurance claims. Review and resolve claim denials and rejections. Follow up on unpaid and outstanding claims. Post insurance and client payments accurately. Review EOBs and ERAs for payment accuracy. Assist clients with billing questions and account balances. Maintain knowledge of CPT codes, ICD-10 diagnosis codes, modifiers, and behavioral health billing practices. Work with Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial insurance plans. Assist with accounts receivable and revenue cycle management activities. Compliance & Documentation Maintain HIPAA compliance and client confidentiality. Ensure accurate and timely recordkeeping. Support providers with administrative and documentation-related tasks as needed. Qualifications Required High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum one year of experience in a medical, behavioral health, or mental health office setting. Experience with insurance claims submission and follow-up. Knowledge of insurance denials, rejections, and billing workflows. Familiarity with CPT and ICD-10 coding. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic health record systems. Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Preferred Experience with SimplePractice. Experience working with Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial insurance plans. Associate degree in healthcare administration, business administration, or related field. Compensation Compensation is based on experience and qualifications. Why Join Our Team?
