REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma or equivalent. Professional tact, diplomacy and presentation with administrators, staff, teachers, students, parents and community. Understands and maintains confidentiality Physical ability to lift a minimum of forty (40) pounds. Successful experience working with special needs students or the equivalent. As partners in the instructional process, paraprofessionals who work in programs supported with Title I funds must meet one of the following requirements: Complete at least two years of study at an institution of higher education (equal to 60 semester hours); or Obtain an associate's degree (or higher); or Meet a rigorous standard of quality and demonstrate, through a formal state or local academic assessment. (
Example:
Work Keys Test, MTTC, ETS Parapro Assessment, etc.) Has undergone a physical examination, by a licensed physician, that documents capability to perform required duties. Has an electronic fingerprint clearance from a criminal history record check.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Post secondary course work with concentration in special education areas. Completion of First Aid, CPR, Behavior Management and Physical Intervention Skills Ability to work with students having special needs and/or aggressive behaviors. Demonstrate an understanding, patient and receptive attitude toward students over varied age groups and varied disabilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Supports students throughout the school day including during recess and lunch. Be actively involved in and supportive of all areas of building supervision Consult and collaborate with all school staff. Assists the classroom teacher with behavior support. Implement Behavior Intervention Plan. Implement Behavior Intervention Strategies. Participate in IEP meetings as appropriate. Maintain appropriate documentation, records and reports. Participate in developing the data collection systems, and monitor data collection to ensure the success of the behavior plan. Appropriately manage student behavior and guide student toward more acceptable social behaviors. Communicate effectively with students, staff and parents. Behavior data entry Other duties as assigned. This is an hourly position with starting wages at $16.38 to $18.32 per hour based on qualifications and experience. The employee will work student days, approximately 180 days per year, 7.25 hours per day. OTHER SKILLS and

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
