The Clinical Services department interfaces with Union Gospel Mission Twin Cities programs to provide intake and diagnostic assessments, case management, consultation and clinical services for men, women and children. The department delivers services through licensed social workers, mental health professionals, a graduate mental health internship program, and management of a network of community organizations to obtain services and referrals for residents.POSITION SUMMARY
The Assistant Clinical Director provides direct clinical services for residents in UGMTC programs with limited supervision in accordance with ethical standards of the profession and in alignment with UGMTC's mission, values and goals. This position provides direct supervision for graduate interns earning hours and experience towards independent licensure.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Exercises independent professional and ethical judgment in providing direct clinical services, including assessment, therapeutic counseling, and consultation to individuals and groups in alignment with UGMTC's mission, values and policies. Assists the Director of Mental Health and Support Services in the implementation of program policies and procedures consistent with the clinical and ethical standards of the profession. Acts as the Director of Mental Health and Support Services in their absence. Develops curriculum and facilitates psycho-educational groups. Measures effectiveness of services and recommend improvements. Conducts resident clinical intakes and diagnostic assessments as needed; develops and tracks treatment plans; provides consultation and referral to appropriate outside mental health and human service agencies. Manages the graduate clinical internship program and relationships with relevant colleges and universities. Orients, trains, and supervises graduate level clinical interns; leads with a Christ-centered approach to coaching and giving work direction. Uses established assessment/case management methodology and practices to build and monitor resident goals and treatment plans; ensures resident confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA privacy regulations. Updates resident progress in Case Worthy software and/or TherapyNotes by recording accurate and timely case notes. Follows all policies and procedures; maintains other program records and compliance reports. Confers with Program Directors and Program Chaplains on case issues and resident progress to support spiritual development, coordinate care for residents, and make program recommendations. Establishes a welcoming and safe environment for UGMTC residents. De-escalates and resolves issues and conflicts that occur with staff and/or residents. Builds relationships with area community stakeholders and service organizations; attends agency and community meetings and workshops as appropriate. Leads prayers and devotion with residents; attends UGMTC sponsored spiritual enrichment activities. Addresses and responds to internal and external questions regarding UGMTC's mission, vision, statement of faith and core values. Represents the Christian values and ethics of UGMTC with residents, staff, interns, volunteers and the community. Maintains co-operative relationships and communication with other departments to ensure access and positive experiences for UGMTC residents and support the achievement of program objectives. Attends seminars and training for case managers, including counseling and therapeutic techniques. Maintains active professional license required for level of clinical work. At any time, with or without notice, performs other duties and activities as assigned.MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, or Counseling Psychology Professional licensure: Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) , Licensed Psychologist (LP) or Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) Additional qualification of Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) 2-years case management and supervisory experience•Board Certified Supervisor (preferred) Willing to obtain Board Certified Supervisor if not currently held (required) Experience working with individuals facing mental health issues, homelessness, poverty, addiction or brain injury Knowledge of County, Department of Human Services, and St. Paul permanent-supportive or permanent housing resources Experience with group work (preferred)KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Support UGMTC's statement of Christian faith and has desire to share that faith, prayer and knowledge with staff, volunteers and clients. Experience using both formal standardized and informal clinical and behavioral assessments. People leadership and management capabilities, including building, motivating, giving work direction and participating in a team. Knowledge and skills in person-centered therapeutic counseling approaches, including motivational interviewing. Demonstrate flexibility and creativity in service delivery. Conflict prevention, de-escalation and resolution skills; exceptional judgement and professional boundaries. Organization, planning and administrative skills. Ability to analyze information to define and solve problems. Proficient in Microsoft Office software and other business-related software applications. Ability to read, understand and follow safety and other specific instructions and procedures. Interpersonal and communication skills necessary to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies, stages of recovery and a culturally diverse community. Team and customer service oriented; work effectively in the coordination of resident support activities on a multidisciplinary team. Apply knowledge of other UGMTC departments and services to explain them to residents and staff. Self-motivated and strives for continuous improvement of program outcomes. Knowledge of relevant professional standards; federal, state and local regulations.WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT
Work is performed in a typical interior/office work environment within a shelter environment. Work requires hearing, talking, pushing, pulling, reaching, crouching, stooping, twisting, carrying, and other physical activities. Must be able to lift 10-15 lbs. Moderate exposure to physical risk.
