PEER Support 3.7 3.7 out of 5 stars Pierce City, MO Full-time Clark Community Mental Health Center 23 reviews Full-time Peer Support workers are individuals with the lived experience of recovery from a mental health condition, substance use disorder, or both. They provide non-clinical, strengths-based support to others experiencing similar challenges. Peer supports work with clients out in the community to instill hope, dispel myths, and walk with others on their recovery journey. Due to the travel, this position includes a company car. The position is full time but hours can be somewhat flexible. Great benefits including health, vision, dental and life insurance, vacation and sick leave, and retirement. Duties and responsibilities Assist individuals served in their recovery from behavioral health problems Start and sustain mutual support groups Promote dialogues on recovery and resilience Teach and model symptom management skills Teach and model problem-solving skills Support efforts to find and maintain paid employment Use the stages in recovery concept to promote self-determination Assist in setting goals and follow through on wellness and health activities Complete all necessary documentation in a timely manner Complete other duties as required by the position and/or as assigned by the immediate supervisor or the Chief Executive Officer Qualifications Education
  • High School Diploma or its equivalent with specialized certification by the State PEER Certification Required Experience
  • Lived experience similar to those clients the peer specialist serves Skills/Abilities

  • Work may be performed in office type settings where answering phone and using computers and other technology should be expected. Special conditions
  • Meetings with clients outside the office are common and may require ability to tolerate prolonged exposure to smoke and pets. Physical requirements General Conditions
  • Job duties may require sitting or standing for long periods of time. Frequent travel, with some trips requiring several hours in a vehicle, should be expected. Minor lifting and moving may be expected requiring ability to lift up to 20 pounds. Special conditions
