Strengthen and facilitate the educational process by modifying and removing health related barriers to learning for individual students and promoting an optimal level of wellness for students and staff.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

EVALUATION
Performance of this job will be done annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Trained to function in an assistive role to the licensed nurse in the provisions of student activities as delegated by the nurse. 2. Clerical, to include: Data collection and documentation. 3. Maintain a daily log of all students seen in the health room. 4. Assure accident reports as indicated. 5. Follow-up on students with excessive health absences and report to supervising R.N. and/or building principal. 6. Maintain student and employee health records including student immunizations, emergency contacts, allergies and special health care needs. 7. Report immunizations to lead R.N. responsible for reporting to the state. 8. Prepare weekly communicable disease reports for care of ill and injured students. 9. Follow established policy and procedure for care of ill and injured students. 10. Dispense and document routine and PRN medications following policy and procedure. (Must have received instruction from R.N. regarding medication distribution and demonstrating proper procedure.) 11. Assist in identifying possible abuse and neglect and act accordingly as a mandated reporter, notifying supervising R.N. and building Principal and follow district policy. 12. Provide a clean, efficient, and safe clinical environment. 13. Assume responsibility for maintenance of health room supplies and equipment. 14. Maintain Confidentiality. 15. Practice safety guidelines and follow Universal Precautions for care and treatment. 16. Screening Programs A. Vision screenings of grades K, 1, 3, and 5; Hearing screenings for grades K, 1, and 3; Dental screenings for grades 2, 3, and 6; Scoliosis grades 5 and 7. Screen all new students for height, weight, vision, hearing and scoliosis if age dictates. B. Report all students failing screening parameters to supervising R.N. for rescreening. C. Notify parents and refer as indicated all students failing screenings following reassessment. D. Screen as needed students enrolled within or being evaluated for Special Services. E. Head lice screenings of all students grades K-6, at the beginning of school in the fall, upon return from Christmas break and mid spring. Also, screen for head lice at the request of a teacher or parent. F. Assist with Kindergarten and Early Childhood vision, hearing and health record screening in spring semester. 17. Additional Duties May be Assigned.
