The ideal candidate will assist individuals in maintaining a safe, engaging, and supportive environment while providing temporary relief to family caregivers. Responsibilities Provide supervision and companionship in home and community settings Assist individuals with daily living activities as needed Support participation in recreational and community-based activities Encourage independence, social interaction, and skill development Monitor health, safety, and overall well-being Communicate effectively with individuals, families, and agency staff in both English and Spanish Complete accurate and timely service documentation Implement behavior support strategies and individualized behavior plans as directed by the clinical team. Assist individuals in developing positive coping, communication, and social skills. Recognize triggers and early signs of behavioral escalation and utilize appropriate de-escalation techniques. Maintain a safe and supportive environment that promotes dignity, independence, and positive behavior. Accurately document behavioral observations, interventions used, and progress toward goals. Collaborate with families, supervisors, and behavior support professionals to ensure consistency of services. Requirements Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish, with excellent communication skills in both languages Prior supervising experience working with children or individuals with behavioral health needs Knowledge of crisis intervention, conflict management, and behavioral health principles Experience in childcare, social work, addiction counseling, or home & community care settings preferred Ability to perform first aid and respond effectively during emergencies Familiarity with LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit) programs or related housing support services is a plus Strong organizational skills for data collection, data entry, filing, and case management documentation Valid certification in medication administration (if applicable) and other relevant safety training Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, or behavioral health needs. Knowledge of positive behavior support practices and crisis prevention techniques. Ability to remain calm, patient, and professional during challenging situations. Experience implementing behavior support plans and collecting behavioral data is a plus.
