Behavioral Support Specialist (IDD / DDD)
Pay:
$65-75 per hour Job Overview We are seeking an experienced Behavioral Support Specialist to provide behavioral assessment and Behavior Support Plan (BSP) development for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) receiving services through the New Jersey Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) . This role focuses on assessment, BSP writing, and training Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to implement plans effectively in home and community settings. This is not an ABA center role and does not involve supervising RBTs. Work is per-case, flexible, and consultative. This position is ideal for clinicians who are comfortable working independently and have direct experience with NJ DDD behavioral supports . Key Responsibilities as a Behavioral Support Specialist Conduct behavioral observations and assessments Develop clear, individualized Behavior Support Plans (BSPs) Collaborate with families, guardians, and support teams Train DSPs on BSP implementation and behavioral strategies Provide ongoing consultation and plan revisions as needed Participate in ISP-related meetings when required Ensure documentation aligns with NJ DDD standards and ISP goals Required Qualifications for a Behavioral Support Specialist Applicants must meet one of the following: BCBA , or Licensed clinician (LCSW, LPC, Psychologist) Additional requirements: Experience developing and overseeing BSPs for individuals with IDD Familiarity with NJ DDD services and documentation Strong clinical documentation and communication skills Ability to work independently in a per-diem role Reliable transportation within New Jersey Preferred Experience Experience training DSPs in home-based or community settings Knowledge of ISP and PCPT processes Compensation & Schedule as a Behavioral Support Specialist Hourly rate: $85-$110 per hour (based on credentials and experience) Paid per approved service hours Flexible, per-case scheduling No minimum or guaranteed hours Why This Role Is Different Consultative, clinical role — not agency micromanagement Clear scope of work and realistic expectations Focus on quality BSPs and proper implementation Responsive, organized support team If you have experience providing behavioral supports under NJ DDD and are looking for flexible, meaningful clinical work, we encourage you to apply.
