Smith Building CityAlbany StateNY Zip Code12210 Job Specifics Duties DescriptionThe Office of Public Safety (OPS) is seeking two student assistants to support the Law Enforcement Strategic Assistance (LESAU) unit. The handling of these tasks will help the student gain professional skills while assisting OPS with special projects. The Student Assistants will assist with duties including, but not limited to:
- Coordinate and support initiatives with the Annual Public Safety Symposium, the Gun Involved Violence Elimination (GIVE), Statewide Targeted Reductions in Inmate-Partner Violence (STRIVE) programs.
- Provide logistical support for events.
- Manage project documentation.
- Coordinate communication with internal staff and external stakeholders.
- Maintain tracking systems and agendas to monitor progress on various activities.
- Liaise with staff, vendors, and stakeholders.
Minimum QualificationsMust be a current student enrolled in a matriculating degree program and have completed a minimum of one (1) year as a student at a degree-granting two or four-year college or university.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred candidates will be available for a 12-month internship located in Albany, NY. Continued internship participation into the spring semester and beyond will require the candidate to meet all NYS Civil Service requirements, including maintaining matriculation status during the Spring 2027 semester. While extension beyond 12 months is not required, availability to extend the internship for students who remain matriculated as seniors or graduate students will be considered based on demonstrated continued enrollment and performance.
